Optica is the new name for a collection of family controlled companies that have operated in the Pennine area of West Yorkshire over the last 25 years. Our activities were initially centred on residential developments providing new houses of various designs and sizes on small to medium sized sites. These ranged from 4-bedroomed detached houses on two sites in Brighouse to more recent developments in Halifax (2) and Hebden Bridge of traditional Yorkshire cottages principally aimed at the first or second time buyer. The houses offer the full NHBC 10 year certificate and we have been complimented by both them and purchasers of the high standards of construction and accommodation that our new homes offer. We are ever striving to offer higher standards of design and fittings on all our present and future developments and our management and sales teams offer a strong understanding of the needs of local homebuyers, which is reflected in the ongoing refinement of our activities. Optica also has a commercial development arm, which, although younger in terms of years of activity, has already achieved a track record of enviable reputation. Through a subsidiary company they developed a 31,000 sq ft food store for J Sainsbury Limited on a site adjacent to the ring road in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, which opened late in 1998. Through careful and diligent land assembly they were able to create a site most of which had been an eyesore for a number of years and the scheme received a Civic Trust Award for its excellence. An 11 acre site at Colton, Leeds was acquired from Leeds Development Agency. Phase 1 was completed in Spring 2003, with buildings for McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Travelodge etc. Phase 2 was completed during 2005 with office space totalling 15,000 sq ft.
